Foundation is such a personal thing.
Does the formula suit your skin type? without it sliding off halfway through the day or gathering into nooks and crannies? No one needs nook and cranny enhancement.
Does it come in a shade for your colouring? Will it be too orange or ashy? Will it change colour throughout the day?
Will it have a weird smell that you have to put up with actually on your nose?
Will it come with an absurd method of dispensing or application?
Well I’ve tried and tested a fair few foundations (lost count) and the following are my current go-to choices for my oily skin.
My ultimate coral – MAC’s Vegas Volt
So I just had a quick look through my make up drawer on the hunt for my beloved MAC Vegas Volt and in the process counted 14 coral toned lipsticks. Fourteen. And I bet if I looked through my handbags that roam the house I would find more.
I feel I need to admit that I have a problem, a coral problem.
Looking back I think it started when I bought my first Vegas Volt. I loved it instantly. Softer than my usual favorite red lipstick, it suited my pale skin and dark hair perfectly. It was so easy to wear from day through to night and from there it seems to have spiraled. I have nude corals, orange corals, pink corals, coral lip glosses, coral lip liners, coral blushers and coral stains.
There is most definitely a coral out there for every skin tone, eye and hair colour. Apricots, peaches, oranges and pinks are perfect for brightening the skin without washing it out. Have a gander at my ridiculous collection…
So when the email promo landed for the Beauty SOS Night we snapped up the invitation.
A girls’ night out you don’t want to miss!
The minimalist look? Pah! We say, the more the merrier. In life, and in lipsticks.
Join us for the ultimate fun-filled girls’ night at the Second Floor.
The best of our beauty brands will be offering treatments and insider tips and tricks from our instore experts, followed by drinks and a delicious dinner.
As we’ve previously experienced beauty nights at Harvey Nics and Selfridges we were expecting the beauty floor to be closed to invitees with a multitude of instore experts around for advice, make-overs and sales pitches. However, this night was slightly different in that the instore experts where out of their natural habitat on the 2nd floor.
…Ok, it’s Tuesday. I’m sure It’s still Monday somewhere?!
