FionaIn amongst the whirlwind of Christmas (driving over 500 miles, drinking too much Baileys and eating twice my body weight in cheese) I was completely spoiled by friends and family with some gorgeous beauty gifts.

The Art of Strobing And Our Highlighter Highlights

So you’ve probably heard of strobing and you’ve perhaps watched some Youtube tutorials on it, but for those of you that think it’s a dance move from the 90s, here’s our how to and with what…

Strobing is basically the opposite of contouring, picking out all the bits you would leave a paler shade and dousing them in a shimmery highlighter. Cheekbones and browbones are a definite and then bridge of nose, forehead, chin and Cupid’s bow are optional.

Urban Decay – Naked On The Run Palette

If you like your face of make-up to be efficient, compact, versatile and polished or even if you just travel away from home often, the new limited edition release from Urban Decay is not to be missed!

The Naked On The Run palette comprises of – Six (new) shades of eyeshadow (or 5 shadows and 1 highlighter/shadow). Bronzer. Blush. A full-size Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss and a travel-size 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (both new shades), plus a travel-size Perversion Mascara. Throw in your concealer/foundation and you’re set.

Naked On The Run Palette

Starting from the top, Perversion mascara (travel size). It got a lot of hype from fellow beauty blogs along with the Perversion primer (which I’m yet to try). Urban Decay describe it as “This ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumising effect formula coats with triple-black pigments — for bigger, blacker, badder looking lashes. So intense you might need a safe word.”

Well, you can see the results yourself, after two coats It leaves lashes incredibly black and lengthened. It’s not the most voluminous mascara but you do get some volume and it’s completely clump free. Stag 24/7 eyeliner (travel size) is the normal 24/7 liner formula, creamy, glides on well and stays put.

Perversion and Stag

Left to Right: Actually naked, 2 coats of Perversion Mascara, Stag added to the upper and lower waterline.

Naked Lipgloss in Sesso (full size) is quite nourishing, it doesn’t have that sticky feeling and has a mild mint sent/flavor. From a non-lipgloss fan I have worn this more often then I would’ve imagined. It wears quite well and doesn’t gather. It’s a rose tone with subtle flecks of gold glitter.

Sesso Lipgloss

Top; Actually naked. Bottom; One swipe of Sesso lipgloss

The eyeshadows are all new for this palette, are highly pigmented, blendable and I have noticed that they have less fallout compared to some of the original Naked eyeshadows. There are 3 shimmers and 2 mattes varying on the warm-cold brown spectrum.

Eyeshadows

Top to Bottom: Dive, Fix, Resist, Dare, Stun.

The bronzer, blush and highlight(/shadow) are extremely pigmented and you really need a soft brush (and hand) to apply. When swatched the bronzer can come off a little orangey however on my pale skin it doesn’t appear muddy as I assumed that it would. The Blush gives a lovely pink flush to the cheeks and can be built up well depending on the flush you require. 50/50 which is sold as the sixth eyeshadow I have used as more of a highlight, with a fluffy brush it leaves a fantastic glow on the skin without looking glittery.

Bronze/Blush/Highlight

Top to Bottom: Bronzer, Blush, 50/50.

This really is a face in a case and for £37 very good value for money.

Still available in all Urban Decay Stockists at the time of posting.
