How To Cure A Hangover – Skyn Iceland

So the MCRBC gang had a mega Saturday night out this weekend and I don’t think that I was the only one feeling a little worse for wear on Sunday morning afternoon!

I don’t know about you but once I’m feeling alive again (usually after a gallon of tea) my skin is always lack luster, more oily and just feels grotty.

So when I saw the Skyn Iceland Hangover Kit on Cult Beauty last week I thought that it might just come in handy for my Sunday recovery session.

Our Make Up of Christmas Future…

These represent our beauty  dreams that will hopefully all come true in 2016 (and the image represents the scariest element of The Muppet’s Christmas Carol that I’d prefer not to focus on right now as I’m home alone…)

Our Make Up of Christmas Past…

NEW NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation REVIEW

Hello, this is my first post on the MCR Beauty Club Blog.. hi there!

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

Having been a fan of NARS Sheer Glow Foundation for a while, and a recent convert to the Radiant Creamy Concealer, and Tinted Moisturiser I heard about the new foundation which claims to give ‘Full, natural-looking coverage with unexpectedly weightless, 16-hour wear’ and had to try it out. This is a hybrid foundation, so needs to be shaken before use to activate. As an oily skinned gal, I thought this sounded perfect for me. And it’s..good!?

This foundation comes in frosted-matte glass packaging with a pump already attached (HALLELUJAH! Sheer Glow I’m looking at you!) and after some experimentation works better for me with a damp beauty sponge, rather than my trusty Sigma F80 foundation brush. I think because of the matte-ness of this foundation it needs some slip to give it some movement around the face, as the sales assistant told me ‘You only need one pump!’.

This foundation needs moisture underneath to give you some glow, a moisturiser or illuminating primer seems to work fine for me. But, I would worry that on dryer skins it would cling and not give much oomph. On my oily t-zone it works quite nicely on me when I need more coverage than usual, and is buildable to a medium-high coverage without too much layering. Leaving a nice polished base for the rest of my make up. It does have staying power, but I think ’16 hour wear’ is a bit of an exaggeration!

It’s a good foundation, but it doesn’t replace Sheer Glow for me, I’m afraid. Good effort though, NARS pal.

Have you tried the new NARS foundation, what did you think? Do you have anything else from NARS to recommend? I have my eye on a couple of the audacious lipsticks, and the new dual blushers.

NEW! MAC – red RED Red Collection

The new MAC offering is an awesome red affair. Consisting of 4 lipsticks, 3 eye shadows, 3 casual colours, 3 cremesheen glasses, 1 dazzleglass, 3 nail lacquers and a beauty powder. Wow. The standout items for us are the lipsticks, casual colours and eye shadows. We picked up a couple of items when the collection launched at the end of Jan which you may have already seen @mcrbeautyclub. 10932099_1605421879692895_423795103_n On the left is the casual colour in Out For Fun and the lipstick is Toxic Tale in a satin finish. The lipstick is creamy, bright and full colour of an orangey-red tone. The casual colour which can be used on cheeks and lips is lightweight and blendable. However, MAC seem to have lost some of the product in the repackaging, in 2014 we got 13ml and in 2015 we get 2.5ml for the same price?! Incredible. Red Alert The eye shadow in Red Alert is in a velux pearl finish, it’s a shimmery red-brown mid tone. It’s full colour and I didn’t experience any drop when applied. It’s blendable and brown enough to wear without eyeliner, unlike MAC’s Cranberry which I look slightly ill if I skip the eyelining step!

The full collection is in stores and online now.
