It’s Oscars week, which can only mean one thing – red carpet lewks.
Here at Beauty Club, we don’t believe in bringing others down so if you’re looking a worst dressed feature – you’ve come to the wrong place. Instead, we want to celebrate the people, the make-up, the hair and the outfits that are giving us life from the 2019 Oscars.
And Emmy’s winner is…Jennifer Lopez
She’s just gorgeous isn’t she? God, I bloody love J. Lo! Whatever magic billionaire cream she uses is doing it’s thing – she literally gets better ever year. And that dress! It’s so her, whilst also being red carpet; I like that she keeps her personality in her style all the time.
And Carrie’s winner is…Emma Stone
It’s got to be Emma for me. I like her look anyway, but this dress is the dream. I’m a big fan a waffles and chocolate so it’s doing it for me! But seriously, it’s very architectural with the shapes and textures and I just love that detail. Keeping her hair and makeup more stripped back with just a pop of colour on the eyes gives the dress the spotlight.
And Laura’s winner is…Billy Porter
It’s one of the most talked about outfits from this year, I know, but it’s genuinely my favourite look of any Oscars ever! I like the subversion of the gown and tux; I like the satin edging; I like the sleeve detail; and I love the black velvet. It’s very luxurious and just screams Oscars glamour whilst not feeling like it’s shocking for the sake of it – it’s very measured and feels totally appropriate.
And Fiona’s winner is…Selma Blair
The pastel colours…the cape…the sweetheart neckline…the flowing skirt and of course, the walking cane – what an outfit! She was diagnosed with MS in August last year and what a return to the public eye this was. With her monogrammed (including a pink diamond obvs) cane and hair and makeup that is giving me mid-00s Linda Evangelista vibes – I could not be more here for this!
And Rachel’s winner is…Dawn O’Porter
I love Dawn – she is just so down to earth and her getting ready Instagram feed was brilliant – like watching your friend get ready for a big night out. She did her own hair and make-up so stuck with her signature style of pale lips and black eyeliner with her super shiny bob. Her dress was, of course, vintage in a really flattering shape. But it was just nice to see something a bit different for the red carpet. I’m also totally in love with her accessories – a fully pearled clutch and of course that handsome Irish man – I wonder where I can pick one of those up…
And Lucy’s winner is…Dame Helen Mirren
As if I needed any reasoning for Helen to be my pick – she is just the Queen. There was a lot of Villanelle (Killing Eve) inspired pink ruffles at this year’s event, but Helen struck the perfect balance in this gorgeous multi-layered peach to coral to pink flowing number. With classic white diamond jewellery and fluttering lashes; her look was both fresh and timeless.
