Vegan Christmas Markets

FionaA few weeks ago, we headed to Victoria Baths in Manchester for the first vegan Christmas market the city has held.

There was vegan bratwurst, vegan cheese stalls, vegan chocolate (I’m going to stop pre-fixing everything with ‘vegan’ now and you can just assume!) and of course lots of beauty and skincare brands were present.

Here’s a run down of a few that we chatted with..

We spoke with rep Megan Edwards who explained that the brand’s aim was to “work in harmony with the human body, nature and mind as a whole and promote cleaner beauty, so no parabens, chemicals or SLS.”

She also told us that being cruelty free is really important to her. Their products have been around since 1921 and have proven themselves over time without being tested on animals.

Megan loved doing the markets and her favourite thing about Christmas is being with her family and her motto for 2019 is to expect nothing and appreciate everything!

Uplift Organic Hair

The lovely Bronte chatted to us about why they made the switch to become a vegan brand: “We are massive animal lovers and there really is no need for brands to be testing on animals. The products we use in salon are high quality and perform amazingly. Anything you can do we can do vegan!”

The salon aims to create the latest and greatest hair and makeup looks whilst proving that it can be achieved, using vegan, organic and cruelty free products. They also stock Inika makeup and Tropic skincare – both vegan ranges.

After a busy year, they are looking forward to the salon having a festive twist with an updated drinks menu – Irish coffees and hot chocolates all round! For 2019, they aim to keep growing and expand their team with a beautician and more stylists.

Take A Breather

Take A Breather is a reflexology, holistic & massage therapy business ran from a quirky narrowboat in the beautiful Cheshire countryside, as well a providing home visits and corporate on-site massage & wellbeing. It’s all about looking after yourself, taking time out from the busy daily grind, stepping out of the rat race and onto to water to switch off and relax! We think the best bit is that Lola, Chris’ dog is on aboard too – she’s such a cutie!

We spoke to Chris who runs the business and asked why is being cruelty free/vegan so important to him and he said, “The world is important to me, of course I absolutely adore animals but I also adore the planet we live on and see how important it is to try and make it last and stop ruining it for our kids!”

Chris is already looking to 2019 when he hopes to expand his corporate client team and start mindfulness classes in schools, teaching children how to look after their wellbeing from a young age.

Reflexology or any type of massage therapy is always the most popular
