It’s nearly hereeeee! 23 sleeps away to be precise.
Are you a bah humbug scrooge? Or a festive loving elf like me? Either way, chances are you have a few gifts to pick up on your your to do list and they ain’t gonna buy themselves!
Inspired by the MCBC ladies, I’ve put together some present ideas for the sometimes difficult to buy people in your life, so pour yourself a mug of mulled wine, nibble on a mince pie and have little look through our gift guide…
For the one that puts animals first, inspired by Laura…
Who could resist The All Dark Vegan Chocolate Hamper Collection from Hotel Chocolat for £27.50? With an indulgent variety of six of their dark bestsellers including dark chocolate ginger puddles and a mini hazelnut buche log.
It’s hard to keep up with the beauty brands that are cruelty free and/or vegan so keep up to date here. One of our faves is this gorgeous Tata Harper Glow for it kit at £58 from Cult Beauty.
Or why not give a life changing present of adopting an animal and support vital work looking after endangered species – you can choose from a selection at WWF for £3/month and receive a cuddly toy, regular updates and a fact pack about your animal.
For the one that’s making a beautiful home, inspired by Emmy…
There are so many products available at the moment to make your home even comfier and cosier so take advantage and pick up a faux luxurious style like this Teddy Bear Throw from Dunelm for £20.
To help put a bit of personality in a home, you need art and a print is a really great gift that you can get at any price range. Keep a look out at local print fairs, or Christmas markets to support independent artists or find a site that represents them like Wolf and Badger where I found this Leaf Print for £22.
And why not add a touch of Christmas with a festive scented candle – not only give a soft glow, but who doesn’t love gingerbread and spices filling their house? Try the Winter Botanical Candle from The White Company for £36 or a bargain version from Asda for a fraction of the price.
For the newly committed gym bunny, inspired by Carrie…
Everyone knows drinking lots of water is the key to better skin, improving your health, winning the lottery etc. so a reuseable water bottle is essential, especially for keeping hydrated during exercise. I love this cute avocado design from Chilly’s for £25.
Speaking of cute, how much do you want this Cat Heart hoodie from artist Suflanda for £40?! Perfect to cosy up in after your work out (and maybe also to keep you comfy whilst indulging in a post-gym Netflix binge).
Finally, if you’re going to put blood, sweat and tears into it, why not have a helping with Mio Skincare Workout Wonder Invigorating Muscle Gel at £21. It energises you pre-workout and uses essential oils to cool and relax your muscles afterwards.
For the one that buys everything they want, inspired by Rachel…
We all have those people in our life who buy the things they want as soon as they see them with no thought for how difficult they are to buy for! A great solution is an ‘experience’ gift. I love this pottery making class for £35 from Clay Studio in Manchester as you get something to take away too; just search for one in your area.
If you do want to wrap a gift up then who can say no to glitter?! This Stila Glitter Set at £29 is perfect for the festive season and will stand out amongst their other make-up collection.
For the ultimate in luxe, you could gift a silk pillowcase that will help to reduce hair breakage and promote a natural moisture balance so any face creams, serums etc. are absorbed into your skin rather than into your pillow. You buy a silk pillowcase from The Ethical Silk Company for £45
For the busy (and tired!) new mum, inspired by Lucy…
A luxurious treat is always a well-received gift and this Aromatherapy Associates De-stress Mind Bath and Shower Oil from Space NK at £48 ticks all the right boxes for a calm, relaxing treat that also helps to focus the mind and re-energise the body.
Most of us enjoy a glass of something after a long day and if wine if your friend’s tipple, then a personalised glass could be the perfect present. I love this Name Wine Glass from Not on the High Street for £16 but alternatively you could swap out for a gin, whiskey or beer glass or pick up a pretty set like these Mikasa Cheers from Lakeland for £19.99.
A book is a great way to snatch a few moments of your own and give you a peek into another world so why not gift a best-selling novel like The Lido by Libby Page £12.99 from Waterstones – a heart-warming and uplifting story about community spirit and the friendships that can be born from it.
For the practical organiser who overthinks everything, inspired by me…
If you know someone who finds it hard to switch off then any help with sleep will be welcome (trust me) and my favourite is this Pillow Spray from Ragdale Hall at £5. The full range is also stocked in store by M&S.
If your friend is the group planner and organiser then they might like getting creative with it and starting a bullet journal and the first thing they will need is a dotted line journal like this one from The Little Journal Company for £10.95. You can create a kit with coloured pens, stencils, stickers and washi tape too.
Although they may always do the planning they also might like to have a bit of a break too! So, why not book a spa day and let them unwind and and have the day organised for them? You can find some great package deals at larger spas or opt for a voucher at local, smaller business. If you’re based in the North, I don’t think you can beat The Woodland Spa in Burnley for top quality, excellent facilities and value for money from £64 including full use of the thermal spa and a 2 course lunch with glass of wine.
Hope you enjoyed my ideas and happy shopping!
