This month the beauty club gals reviewed their favs and fails from the hair care world. So read on if you’re interested in serious volume, no shampoo days and nourishing oils and conditioners.
We promise no flicking “we’re worth it” hair shots… Ok, maybe one.
Shampoo & Conditioner
Top nourishing and repairing recommendation from Sara is OGX’s Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner.
This smells AMAZING and does the job well with Sara’s thick, dyed hair being in top condition after using this for a few weeks.
It’s also a decent price point of £6.99 each for the Shampoo and Conditioner and Boots always has an offer on.
Fiona’s top pick for her fine, flyaway hair to inject some volume is Sebastian – Volupt Shampoo & Conditioner.
This range is salon only but you can get it on Beauty Bay. It’s a little pricier but Fiona swears by it for the volume increase she sees.
You can also get the large bottles with a pump which is just so handy in the shower!
Heat Protectors & Wet Styling
Lauren loves Bumble & Bumble – Don’t Blow it, which is a relatively new product which is for any air-drier who wants to enhance their texture. Ideal for fine to medium hair. Lauren likes to put some of this on her wet hair, style into two french-plaits (overnight) and when dry gives a lovely relaxed wave without any heat.
Rachel recommends a couple more from the Bumble & Bumble range. Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer which she sprays on wet/damp hair to detangle, de-frizz, tame flyaways, ease styling and protect against breakage, heat-styling and UV damage.
She uses Surf Spray when she wants that effortless messy look, with a natural wave in her hair this helps keep that tousled look all day.
Sara also uses the OGX Argan Oil from the same range as her shampoo & conditioner which helps to moisturise, revive and create softness and strength while helping protect your hair from harmful styling heat and UV damage.
Finishing, Dry Shampoo & Texturizers
Emmy loves the Toni and Guy Casual range Matte Texture Dry Shampoo and Flexible Hold Hairspray.
As an avid dry shampoo/texture user Emmy has found a great one with a fantastic scent, little residue and great price for the style is can deliver. Comparing it to the Oribe Dry Texturizing spray (the holy grail) it stacks up and considering you can buy 5 cans for the price of one Oribe.
This hairspray also has the same fab scent as the dry shampoo. It delivers a good lightweight hold with natural movement throughout the day.
Laura brought her BaByliss Curl Secret along (or her curly hair hoover as we renamed it).
This hair curler has 3 settings, loose waves, soft curls and more defined curls.
You pick a small section (approx an inch) of hair, place the curler close to your head and when the curler closes over the section it draws in the full length of the hair into the barrel (which is terrifying at first). It beeps to let you know when to release it and a curl is magically formed!
We tried it out on Fiona and Lauren who were pleasantly surprised with the results. Laura likes the curler but said it does take a while to do your whole head a small section at a time.
